Biography

Jonathan Herman was born in London in 1968. At the age of 9 he moved to Amsterdam with his parents and his twin brother. He began working professionally as assistant director on various award winning Dutch drama series and initiating his own projects. Soon he was commissioned to make a set of short art films featuring young and upcoming Dutch jazz musicians. These films were nominated for a Dutch Academy award.

 

Since 2002 Jonathan has worked with all the major advertising companies in Holland, and is currently also working in France, Germany, Belgium and Italy.

 

In 2003 Jonathan won a Bronze Lion at Cannes, a silver ADCN Lamp in the Netherlands and gold Eurobest in London for DDB in Amsterdam with a film for the Dutch lottery. In 2005 Jonathan won a Gold Lion at Cannes and the Grand Prix de Strategies in Paris for two commercials he directed for the French newspaper L'Equipe and in 2009 Jonathan was awarded the ADCN Lamp for best director at the 2009 Dutch Art Directors Award ceremony for the Bavaria ‘Life is Life’ commercial.
